Becoming a Servant Like Jesus Christ: Holy Spirit Thoughts

Why does God want you to become a servant? How does one become a servant? What steps do you need to take in order to be more like Jesus Christ every day? This post will explore the answers to these questions, as well as update you all on the work we are doing in our ministry. This post is dedicated to Drew, who has served a special hand in making the work of our ministry possible. Of course, all glory to Jesus Christ, whom Drew listens to daily.

Introduction - Jesus Christ and Servant Leadership

Though Jesus Christ knew His life was coming to an end, He spent his last week serving others, which included teaching others, healing the sick, and even washing the feet of the twelve disciples. Jesus Christ was aware of the agony that lay before Him, but He never complained and served others up until the hour of His death.

While many Christians profess today that one can just say they love Jesus Christ and they are saved, the Bible is clear that we must emulate Jesus Christ as much as humanly possible:

1 John 2:6 Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
1 Peter 2:21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

If many love Jesus as they claim, they will keep His commandments.

If you look for answers as to what Jesus Christ asked us to do, it is about loving others. Most know that. Unfortunately, the word "love" has been taken over, washed out, and even destroyed by some groups, so many do not understand what type of love Jesus Christ was talking about. For the Satanists, especially, they have created a love to mean "anything goes" - so that is why we see what we see today - lawlessness everywhere. That is not love. That is hatred in disguise, as it is leading many to hell.

Jesus Christ represents a sacrificial love - a love by truly serving others. He represents perfect love.

At dinner, I told Witness 1, "You know, you go to church, and they read Scripture, but they never really get into the 'why' or 'how' behind it all. They say, Scripture says to love others, but they stop there. They never really examine it or exemplify it, and it turns into some theatrical performance of how much Jesus Christ loves you, but they never go into how to show your love for Jesus Christ."

I swear, I don't know if anybody sees this, but it's almost as if church leaders these days are just reading from the same script: the same hand motions, the same scriptures, the same voice even! So, this post is going to go beyond just talking about loving others. We need to figure out why and how to love others. Isn't that the most difficult part of our day to day lives?

Before I started to write this post, I asked the Holy Spirit, "Why should we serve others?" He replied, "To Be like Jesus Christ." I asked, "Why should we be like Jesus Christ?" He said, "Being like Jesus Christ represents pure, agape, sacrificial love. He is the epitome of love - that is the key to the Father. Jesus Christ is Love. Love is the Key." I asked, "How do we be more like Jesus Christ?" "Become a servant like Jesus Christ" and that is what this post about.

This post is about how and why to become a servant like Jesus Christ, as well as what Witness 1 and I are doing to model it for readers in our real life ministry. No, this isn't to brag and Jesus Christ gets all the glory. We are here to serve Him, so let's begin.

Servanthood and Servant Leadership

The word servant has a negative connotation. Most do not want to be servants, and most do everything they can to not be a servant in any way, shape, or form.

Imagine people's shock when Jesus Christ came to Earth and was not only a servant, but the epitome of a servant leader. Jesus Christ lived His life as a walking oxymoron. Though He is King, He humbled Himself to the lowest human form as a servant. Still, through this servanthood, He actually led! He used His humility in servanthood to become the greatest leader of all time.

God did NOT have to do this, but He did, and He wants us to do this, too.

All throughout the Bible, it is written that God wants us to humble ourselves. Why?

Through humility, we gain perspective, empathy, and love for others. It is nearly impossible to truly love others if we do not understand them, or at the very least, have the ability to empathize with them. We can only do this by getting down to their level, and Jesus got down to the lowest level to show true humility.

Many struggle with how to humble themselves, and the answer is in servanthood.

So, then, how does one even begin to serve others? In this world, one could argue it is harder than ever before.

Before I go into what readers can do, I wanted to share what our ministry has been doing. We have been incredibly humbled through this ministry, and let me explain how we serve like Jesus Christ.

Faith at the Center

In January of 2023, I had just come out of one of the worst experiences of my entire life, and maybe one day, I'll be brave enough to write about that experience. God absolutely rescued me from that tragedy, and I knew that it was time to give back to Him.

Though I had been writing for God for years and serving Him in a variety of ways, I knew it was time to do what I always wanted to do: start my own ministry.

Yes, Witness 1 was involved in this process, but He gives me most of the credit for the idea and initiation of it all. He, as always, supports me in whatever I want to do. Why? He loves me as Christ loved the church.

God gave me instructions. For years, I had a lukewarm Christian group on social media. and He told me to close it down. He told me to start over, and only add Americans who truly seemed to love Him. For readers, please take a moment and try not to criticize me immediately as you read this. One might be thinking, "Why not add everyone?", but that is not what God wanted. He wanted me to add people who actually loved Him. So, I went through my friends list and I added about 10 people who seemed to truly love Jesus Christ out of hundreds.

Then, I started getting random requests from people in Africa and other nations throughout the world. He told me to add every single one of them to the group. So I did.

Then, he told me to call prayer meetings twice a week and to give money to each person who showed up.

Witness 1 was uncertain about the idea, and at first, we had some fights about it, but I would just quote Scripture about giving, and I told Him God said He would pay us back (and HE HAS!)

So, at first, almost nobody showed up and it seemed really pathetic. I was essentially paying people to come. Haha. God said not to worry about that because He would weed out who was there for Him and who was not.

So, twice a week we met, with a humble group, mostly with Pakistani people, a few Africans, and one or two American friends.

Witness 1 created sermons, and God told me explicitly not to run it like any church today. So, He gave me this layout:

1) Opening Prayer, Praise Encouragement (5 minutes)
2) Announcements (5 minutes)
3) Sermon (No more than 15 minutes)
4) Prayer Groups (30 minutes)

For a few weeks, it stayed very small, and we were loyal to God. We continued to give each week to each person who showed up (non-American), and then one day, it just blew up.

One Sunday, a huge group of people showed up, and after that, our ministry just exploded.

Now, we are just about to hit 300 members (almost there!), and we have people from all over the world. More Americans have joined, as well, which I thought would never happen.

The center and heart of our ministry is helping people. Every week, we give weekly donations to about 50 families who are in dire need of food and basics, and we also give out Bibles, basic necessities, and much, more more - hope itself. By the way, each week this number grows, but I just keep putting in faith that God will provide.

It would be impossible to detail all we are doing, but due to many of your donations (from many of you reading this), we have recently been able to expand our ministry to another key African country. This country will broadcast our work on their radio stations, and more and more are joining. The message we preach in real life is the same as we preach on this website, including the truth about Israel, the vaccines, the Synagogue of Satan, 9/11, MKUltra, and more. We don't censor any of the truth, and I believe God rewards us for that.

How do we get all this money? Witness 1 and I are poor by American standards! We are not wealthy people. We just pray and ask God. That's it!

Yes, we do work, and we do have jobs, and we absolutely tithe our own money, but there is no way we could afford it without God. God just works through people and tells them to help us. That is it!

What glory do we get? None (or as little as possible!). We specifically tell people NEVER to worship us and give thanks to Jesus Christ. Of course, we still get gratitude, but it is so unlike the ministries you'd see in America, where pastors are giving autographs and posting on Instragram. It's infuriating and insulting to Jesus Christ, who should get all the glory - not celebrity pastors who cannot say anything true anyway.

As beautiful as this sounds, it isn't always easy. Of course, people can be very cruel, and at times, we are fighting many battles with many.

Yet, we continue.

This is what servanthood is supposed to be - that you serve and give with no expectation of anything in return, and that is perhaps the most difficult part.

Sometimes people don't say thank you. Sometimes they are rude. Sometimes they are lying. Sometimes they try to scam us (God never lets that happen!). Sometimes they curse God.

Yet, we keep going and keep serving.

This is what I am calling readers to do. I am calling you to try to serve with no expectation for anything in return.

So many only give with the idea of, "What will I get out of it?", and this thought automatically ruins the act. It becomes selfish and meaningless to God.

True love, like Jesus Christ, is helping and serving others with absolutely no expectation for reward - not on Earth anyway.

Here is the amazing thing about God though - He does reward those who are generous. He does give back, and He does help those who are helping others.

Every week, I sit in my prayer chair outside, in the beaming sunlight, and I will say, "God, if you want me to keep doing this ministry, you're going to have to keep helping us with money."

And He does. Witness 1 can vouch He answers our prayers and our faith continues to increase. Research George Muller for more information about increasing faith and trusting in God.

But the first step was trusting in Him.

At the beginning of the year, when we first started giving the money, we just had to trust Him. That is the faith the Bible talks about, and in a moment, I wanted to talk to readers about tithing.

In the meantime, what we really do get out of it is beyond this world.

Through this ministry, Witness 1 and I are completely different people. Once spending money on getting drunk and high, we now devote it to serving the poor. What we get back is more than anything that can be described in physical terms. We receive the fulfillment of the Holy Spirit itself and we feel a closeness to Jesus Christ that is indescribable to most.

So many people say, "I can't feel the Holy Spirit. I can't feel Jesus Christ. I don't understand how to love."

And I will say, "Have you ever tried helping someone? Maybe give some money to the poor. See how you feel!"

Now, that leads me to my next point. If you don't know what to do first, give some money away. Don't click out of the post just yet. Before you tell me you have no money, I have an answer for you.

The Poor Widow

I find it very interesting that so many people always email about how poor they are and how they can't sacrifice any of their money - not even a dollar. Yet, I'm always reminded of the story of the poor widow.

The Bible doesn't say "Give if you have a lot of money." It says to give no matter what your circumstances are at the time.

When God called me to give money to the poor at the beginning of our minsitry, I didn't have money to give! And that's what Witness 1 said, and that's what I told God.

Witness 1 and I went back and forth debating, and finally I pulled out the Scripture as my Sword.

The Widow's Offering

41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.[a] 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Witness 1 couldn't argue with me. He bregudgingly agreed, still in good faith, and we gave whatever we had left after bills to the poor (with no savings). I gave up buying all my pretty dresses and make-up, and I sacrificed. It was probably the most sacrificial we had been in our relationship.

This was an example of true servanthood. Again, this is not to brag, and I pray God doesn't take away our reward in Heaven for sharing this testimony. However, there are of course, many acts we do that I will not name, and I believe sharing this testimony will motivate someone to think, "If Witness 1 and Witness 2 can do this, surely I can!"

God took wretches like Witness 1 and me to lead. He takes the foolish things to confound the wise.

Of course, servanthood isn't just about money, and no, there is no specific amount God calls you to give. He just calls you to give what is in your hear or what He leads you in your heart. He often speaks to people and tells them what to give. Today, He told me, buy this man a Bible, and I did.

Why? If we love Jesus Christ, we obey Him! There are so many instances of Jesus Christ calling us to take care of those in need. This is at the foundation of what Jesus taught, so if we really love Him, we will help those in need.

If you don't know where to start, go pray and ask Him! So many end up giving their money to churches and fraudulent charities because they never asked God where to put their money. These days, I am not sure I want to fund another salary of some fake pastor or some charity that only gives 10% of what they receive.

At the church we were previously going to, the tithes were funding the pastor's (and his wife's) matching motor cycles and mansion. I never wanted to give them money again, and I didn't.

I asked God if I can promote own ministry in this post, and He said, "Of course Witness 2. That is why I wanted you to write this." If you want to give to our ministry, and you only have $1, then that is like the poor widow to God. $1 can pay for some food for someone in our ministry, and we would be grateful.

This post isn't only about that though. Of course, If God calls you to support us, wonderful! We thank every single person who has given us any amount of money. It is a great compliment to be trusted, and I know God will greatly reward those who have helped us because He has told me He would. Of course, we try really hard to never ask people for money or put pressure on them to give. It's in your heart through Jesus Christ and where He leads. We have accepted that if the money stops, our ministry will likely stop in many ways.

The point is that today is the day to change your mindset. Stop telling God you can't give - because you can. With money, if you don't know where to start, just ask Him. Before I started this ministry, I just bought Bibles and put dollar bills in them and went out and preached. I still do that!

Now, we use the money we receive (and our own) to help some of the neediest people in the world. So, if you want to support us, please do.

Of course, it isn't all about money, and there are other things you can do. Before I share those at the end of this writing, I wanted to provide some testimonies of how we are helping people around the world. All glory to Jesus Christ!

I work from a far district about 60km and it requires me to pay transport fares every week two times while going back home to prepare the sermon and worship with my church and return back to work Monday morning. Look at the people you are helping around the world, and this is just a smidgen. I can post updates here weekly, if anyone is interested. There are so many who have given to us with complete trust and love. They never told us what to do or how to do it - they just helped us. Wow.

You have made a difference to so many through your love of Jesus Christ.

Now, again, it just isn't about money. Also, of course, our ministry extends to our online ministry, as well. We are expanding this, and this week I am meeting with a brother in Christ, ColorTree, on how to set up a weekly chat. I hope people are interested! We have to start somewhere. Witness 1 wants me to add the amount of excessive prayer I do for people we meet online, with a large list of daily prayers.

I pray sores upon all who have worked for our ministry and abandoned us for a lie in Jesus's name.

Conclusion: So, what do I do next?

We talked about baby steps. How does one serve? Where do you begin? Start with a prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven,
Help me serve like Jesus Christ. Show me where to start. Show me where to give. Show me if you want me to donate and where. Show me Lord! In Jesus's name I pray.

Some tips for serving others:

Words: Send encouraging messages to people (work, in real life, online, Reddit, etc.) Write a kind email to someone with Jesus Christ at the center.
Bibles: Buy Bibles online in bulk and give them out. (I usually put a dollar in each one or a kind message). You can buy new testament copies on Amazon for cheap in bulk. [Note from Witness 1: This is an example of a true first world privelege, as we have learned through our ministry a surpising fact - Bibles in third world countries cost approximately a week's wages, the equivalent of hundreds of dollars here for one.]
Little Acts. Smile at people. Hold doors open. Help the waiter by cleaning up after yourself. Buy someone's groceries. Ask an old lady if she needs help carrying groceries to her car. Little acts!
Charity: Even a dollar - to causes that matter. If anyone judges the amount you donate, I would not donate to that place again.
Preach: I make a goal to preach online 6 times a day each day. (Witness 1 is laughing because it is really OCD). This largely consists of posting a link to our website, which anyone can do! In real life, I preach to one person whenever I'm out, and yes, I've been screamed at and humiliated. Worth it for Jesus Christ.
Keep items for the homeless in your car: Make little "homeless packages" and give them out whenever you see a homeless person. Include a Bible inside!
Visit prisoners/nursing homes/etc.: These places really need visitors. Call them and ask their rules on visitation and ask if there is anyone they recommend you visiting. Elderly need company, and it can be an opportunity to preach.
Support Ministries Proclaiming the Truth: Share their videos, writings, etc. This goes a long way. Share out stuff, too!
Be Kind to Your Enemies: This is especially true with people you work with or family members. Buy them a random gift and write them a nice note. When you are kind to even those who hate you, it is like heaping coals!
Stop Wasting Time! In 3 minutes, you could send someone a nice message. In 5 minutes, you could buy some Bibles from Amazon. In 5 minutes, you could donate to an online ministry. In 1 minute, you could preach to someone.

Servanthood does not have to be big. Start small. Start somewhere. Make a goal to do something for someone once a day - with nothing expected in return.

So many ruin good gifts because they want something in return.

For those who have given to us, you have never asked for anything in return, and we thank you. I just want you to know God is rewarding you for that.

To end, if you don't "feel" or "understand" Jesus Christ, start by serving others. It will put you in a state of humility, and you will begin to truly understand Him and all those who have followed Him, such as His disciples.

I often tell Witness 1, "I really get Paul's frustrations and understand His sermons better now that we are doing this ministry!" I never would have if we never tried.

Some may not be called to start a ministry, but you can support ours.

I believe this ministry we are running will one day connect with our online ministry, and many of you will be involved. We will see.
